I put just put new batteries in my smoke detector but I can’t get it to stop chirping? Why?
It has a groundbreaking new 9 Volt battery and is still chirping. My house has 4 smoke detectors. I have changed 2 of them and now they won’t stop chirping. They weren’t chirping before and they have new batteries in them.

Replace it, smoke detectors are not something to service.
Is there a reset button on your detector?
Possibly its broken. or something got baggy in there. you should talk to your landlord about it or get a new one.
one of the possible reasons is:
the detection cell or sensor is not clean. there is still traces of smoke or dust on it. that’s why, chirping is continuous.
try to clean them, then chirping will stop.
