does pulling a main fire alarm destroy a personal computer?
I live in a senior building and there was a fire..I called in from the main lobby and the fireman after hearing how much smoke told me on the phone to pull the alarm, I did. A woman who does not like me says she is going to sue me because I blew up her PC by setting off the alarm? Did not hurt mine nor any one elses that i have question..Is it right I hurt her PC do you reckon? The power did not go off just the fire alarm.

A fire alarm in a building like that usually does up to 3 or 4 things. Occasionally, a marker is unrestricted to mark the person that pulled the alarm. The fire alarm system is activated and the various bells and alarms sound depending on how ancient it is and local fire codes etc. Last, the alarm alerts either an alarm company which would in turn say the fire department or it frankly alerts the fire department. That is all that happens. In vital areas of some buildings it might activate a sprinkler system rather than wait for heat to trigger the sprinklers.
Fire alarms as well as other fire equipment are nearly always isolated on separate circuits with battery backups and set aside tanks so they always work. The power as well as water for a sprinkler system are isolated so that if the power or water disastrous because of a fire, an outage or other reasons, there would still be an alternate backup and the system would still work. So, the fire alarm couldn’t even cause a power surge back into the power grid in the building. The fire department may have cut power when they arrived, but that only moves the blame to the fire department and it is still unlikely that there would have been any kind of damaging power surge.
So, there is nearly no way a fire alarm can hurt a computer unless it was frankly related to the reason the fire alarm had to be pulled in the first place. More likely is that the computer was by now hurt or not working and she is looking for an excuse to get a new one.
In any case of what happened, you were told by someone from the fire department to pull the alarm. Ignoring how screwed up the legal system might be, you did the proper things and did it on the advice of the fire department and it is unlikely any court would do much more than laugh at her. If she persists, and it does reach the courtroom, I reckon I would counter sue for time wasted and costs incurred in preparing for and defending the case. There may also be some laws that would protect you from such things. You may need to talk to a lawyer if it ever really gets that far. Kind of doubtful it will even make it into small claims court.
There is one conundrum you may have to deal with for a long time. People like that will be badmouthing you to anyone that will listen. The only resolution I would give her is to tell her to prove it. Given the conundrum where people often snub facts, even proof that it is impossible won’t be believed and she’ll probably continue to be annoying even though she has been proven incorrect. She has to prove herself incorrect before she’ll believe it.

lol she is insincere how the hell it will hurt her pc. Just don’t mind her. coz she is just a hater
No. Triggering an alarm has nothing to do with power surges. Besides, it is her responsibility to protect her equipment from any line power problems.

You a had a town responsibility to pull the alarm. Tell her to sue you or file a claim with her insurance company. Otherwise she should shut up.
There’s no way a fire alarm will hurt a computer in a building. The only way a fire alarm going off may possibly hurt a computer, is if she jumped up when the alarm sounded and knocked the computer onto the floor! You did the right thing, she’s an idiot!
